What "power" means in the finder
The finder groups playing demand into three styles: Power, Hybrid and Speed. Playing demand is the second-highest preference factor. A power product scores highest for players who choose Power, hybrid products score partially, and speed-oriented products score lowest. It's a fit signal, not a statement about which position "needs" which boot — many props are happy in hybrid boots.

All four are rugby-specific, soft-ground boots with metal studs. The Gilbert Sidestep X20 PWR 8S is also the only rugby-specific boot in the catalog recorded with a wide, roomy fit, which matters for many front-row players. The Gilbert Sidestep X20 PWR 6S has unknown width and feel in our sources.
If you play on firm ground or turf
There is no power-oriented FG, AG or FG/AG product in the current catalog. If you choose Power with a non-SG surface, the finder will score hybrid products as the next-best demand match and explain that in "Why this match?". The rugby-specific firm-ground option is the Gilbert Cage Torq MSX Firm Ground (hybrid, unknown width). See firm-ground rugby cleats.
Front-row checklist
- Confirm your main surface — the power options above are SG only.
- Confirm metal studs are allowed where you play before choosing an SG metal-stud boot.
- Put width first if your feet are wide; width is the largest scoring factor.
- Prefer a secure fit without toe crowding; sizing up for width alone often adds toe space instead.
- Re-check price on the source page before buying.
Price points
In the power group, recorded prices range from $75 to $112. If budget is tight, see rugby cleats under $100. The finder excludes products above your budget unless you allow a 15% stretch.
